» Sick, sick, sick! - Monday, August 23, 2010

Gah, my self-confidence is down the drain again. Dry and brittle hair, breakouts, cracked lips, acne scars. On top of that, I've recently fallen ill with a fever, sneezing, coughing, runny nose, and painful joints. I hate this feeling. Hopefully, this feeling will go away soon, because it's definitely interfering with my life. Just to add to that, my fashion sense is on the low (as I'm too lazy to dress up), and have settled with the typical T-shirt and denim shorts. Bleh.

Anyway, I've been occupying myself with a website called 'Interpals'! Since the beginning of the year, I've been looking for penpals from all around the world. So far, I've two penpals. One's from Taiwan, while the other's from Japan. Isn't that awesome? This afternoon, I sent letters to two new penpals who reside in Korea. I have a feeling that I'll never get sick of this particular hobby! *grins*

» Chocolate-Coated Strawberries - Saturday, August 21, 2010

As I'm 19 years old this year, it was nevertheless compulsory for me to cast a vote. So this afternoon, I accompanied my parents to the nearest voting booth, which was situated at Campbell Primary School. However, this was my first time participating and I was confused on how everything worked. Thank goodness I could refer to the flyers for instructions. Julia Gillard or Tony Abbott? Hmmm.

Next, I accompanied my younger sister to Livingston to print off some digital images. Before we left the shopping centre, I went to Woolworths Liquor to buy a Cruiser for my younger sister. (She's going to an alcohol party, and needed me to help her buy a bottle.) The lady at the counter asked me for my ID and I felt so grown up. You see, I have never really had a good reason to show my 'Proof Of Age' card, as my days are usually spent lazing around at home or shopping.

My mum surprised me with a plate of chocolate-coated strawberries. Yum! She makes the best ones, because it gets so deliciously addictive. I'm craving for more. Unfortunately, it's not the season for strawberries, which explains why they taste sour. Thank goodness the chocolate coating makes up for it. *licks lips* Anyway, that's all I have to report on for today. Check back tomorrow for more updates.

» Ming Yi's Birthday Surprise. - Friday, August 20, 2010

After University, I rushed home to get ready for cell-group at Andrew's place. As both me and Rachel had no idea where he lived, we decided to take the bus at Curtin instead (so that he would be able to physically lead us to his place). However, everything didn't go according to plan and we eventually reached there an hour late. Thank goodness Juliana was on the way to Andrew's house, and picked us up from the Curtin bus interchange. Aww, much appreciated.

As it was Ming Yi's birthday today, Enrich organized a surprise celebration for her. Instead of having the usual cell-group, we ended up having a night of fun and games. It involved us playing Mafia (card game), Charades and Celebrity Heads before heading to Northbridge for supper together.

If you want to view more pictures, just feel free to browse through my Facebook album (only for personal friends). I won't be uploading every single one here, because it'll take ages for my entire blog entry to load. On a random note, I'm glad that I'm getting closer to Enrich. No more awkwardness around these people. And this being said, I can finally say goodbye to shyness.

If it wasn't for my beloved cell-group, I would still be struggling to find a place where I can actually call 'home'. These people are awesome, and some of them have definitely made a difference in my life. Especially Mark Ong, who I experienced Divine Appointment with. Never will I forget why/what/how it happened. If you ask, I'll be glad to share my testimony with you.

PS: Happy Birthday Ming Yi! ♥

Caption: Outfit of the day.

Jacket: Taiwan
Shorts: Valleygirl
Stockings: Big W

Yes, a simple outfit this time. Let me explain! Made an appointment with my unit coordinator to meet this morning at 10.00 am. As I woke up, I realised that it was already 9.24 pm which meant that I had to get ready in 5 minutes. Brushed my teeth, washed my face, wore a random outfit (didn't really care whether it matched), and ran all the way to the bus stop. And you know what's sad?

I didn't even get to go to the toilet or brush my hair before leaving the house! Pretty sure I looked somewhat like a hobo living on the streets. Gah. That's why I only took a picture of my outfit, without including my face/hair. Good thing no one gave me strange looks while at University. *sigh of relief* Anyway, I'm looking forward to next month's allowance from my mum. I miss shopping.

» Horrible days. - Tuesday, August 17, 2010

Before I get ready to head to University, I'll like to thank the following people for their encouragement and support. You guys will understand why. But for all my blog readers, apologies for not letting you know what's going on. It's quite personal. Hope you'll understand, yeah?

Names: Jocelyn Tan, Viola Ng, Samson Tan, Ming Yi, Daniel Jones, Amanda Lim, Darrel Sng, Hui Mei, May Zhang, and last but not least, Mark Ong.

Thanks for texting me, Facebook-ing me and MSN-ing me with bible quotes and life experiences so that I won't feel as though I'm going through this alone. Knowing that you guys care really made a difference in my life, and I want you to know that. It's wonderful to have YOU in my life.

» FGA Church Camp 2010. - Sunday, August 15, 2010

On Friday night, we headed down to Mandurah for the FGA Church Camp. It was held at the Atrium Hotel for three days and two nights. Before heading to the hotel, we played some ice-breaker games, where people got the chance to win movie tickets. It was pretty enjoyable watching everyone cheer on their favourite participant. Soon enough, it was time for 'Praise and Worship'! We sang from the bottom of our hearts, praising the Lord God. To end the day, we had a guest speaker (Pastor Edmund Chan) who came all the way from Singapore.

We soon found out our hotel room allocation, and my fellow room-mates were Florence Zaw-Win, Ming Yi, and Rachel Lee. There was two rooms to choose from. One had a bunk bed, while another had a queen-sized bed. Both and Rachel decided to share the queen-sized bed, as it would be easier for us to chat throughout the night. That night, we eventually ended up sleeping at 4 am in the morning. What did we do? Well, we were mainly chatting, discussing good music, eating chips, munching on chocolates/lollies, as well as drinking coke.

Caption: Atrium Hotel

Caption: Our kitchen.

In Church camp, we were grouped according to gender and there was a rule where we weren't allowed to enter the room of an opposite sex. As our cell-group consisted of both males and females, we seeked permission for an exception. In the end, our plea was accepted as a reasonable one. Thus, on Saturday morning at 8.00 am, we had devotion as an Enrich (cell-group) where we were made to share testimonies. Some of the things people shared were very touching, to be honest.

We headed to the nearest MacDonalds for some breakfast/brunch, before going back to the 'hall' to listen to the special guest speaker (Pastor Edmund Chan) preaching. It was really inspirational, as he shared testimonies and talked about the wonders of the divine appointment. Felt really blessed after that particular session. Later on in the day, we went swimming at the indoor heated pool/spa, went window-shopping, and bought some ice cream. Yum!

Caption: Walking.

Caption: Tina, Ming Yi and Rachel.

That night, me and Rachel invited Enrich (cell-group) members to come to our room to have a mini midnight-snack party. Some people brought along some snacks to share, which was very nice of them. Aaron brought along a pack of cards, so we ended up playing 'Mafia'. It was such a nice game, despite the fact that I got scared numerous times because people were using words like 'bloody' and 'murderer'.

Caption: Tina, me and Ming Yi.

Caption: Trying to climb up.

Caption: I love you.

Although I had fun, not everything went smoothly and according to plan...

01. My contact lenses solution expired and I wasn't aware of it. Unfortunately, I washed my contact lenses with it and the chemical ended up burning my eyes. Panicking, I splashed my eyes with lots of water to get rid of the stinging sensation. As my eyes opened, I noticed that my entire right eye was extremely sore and a shade of bright red. Florence ended up calling Yu Min for some medical help, and I was so scared of losing my eyesight. Thank goodness the Lord God made sure that I was fine.

02. Rachel decided to tell me and Ming Yi some hotel room ghost stories. I ended up sitting on the chair and hugging my legs for dear life, as I was extremely scared. Eventually, we got the level leader to pray for the hotel room that we were staying in, so that bad spirits would be shooed away. That was how frightened I was. Yikes!

I'm going to Church Camp from the 13th to the 15th of August. If there's internet access in Mandurah, I will try to update my blog on a day-to-day basis. As soon as I get back, I'll definitely upload all the pictures for all you blog readers to see. Do stay tuned!

PS: It would be lovely if you could leave nice messages, so that I can read them when I get back. (:

» Packing for Camp. - Wednesday, August 11, 2010

You must be wondering what I've been up to for the last few days. Well, I've been buying camp essentials, such as midnight snacks and toiletries. After two more days, I'll be heading to Mandurah for the FGA Church camp, and I absolutely can't wait! Let me tell you what I've packed so far...

As you can tell, it seems as though I'm going on a 1 month holiday. *rolls eyes* Ha, I'm not THAT bad though. My new friend (Rachel) is dragging along one luggage suitcase, as well as several bags of clothes and food. Mind you, this Church camp is only for 3 days and 2 nights! Oh that reminds me, I need to find something to cover my face while I sleep (as I absolutely hate people watching me). Hopefully, I won't suffocate.

» Tagged by Yumeko - Tuesday, August 10, 2010

Several days ago, I was tagged to do 8 questions by Yumeko. Didn't manage to do it previously as I had a whole lineup of blog entries, one after another. However, as I'm currently working on my University homework, these 8 questions would have to do for today. Thanks for tagging me, by the way.

1. What's your favorite dessert?

My favourite dessert would be the typical Ice Kachang. It never fails to bring up childhood memories whenever I eat it! Love eating it on sweltering hot days, especially when I'm sweating like crazy.

2. When you go shopping, do you end up buying a lot?

I used to save my money, and refrain from spending during shopping trips. But thanks to dear Amanda's influence, I've been spending my money like water running from a tap. (Joking!) Nah, I probably started spending a lot ever since I was fascinated/interested in Japanese fashion styles.

3. Is there a color that reminds you of something special?

The only colour that reminds me of something/someone is purple. The special person that reminds me of this very colour is myself. *hides face* Well, it's true.

4. Do you always say what you think, even if this might hurt your friend's feelings?

Yes, I often say what I think but I tend to phrase it in a more pleasant way. For example, if my friend's buying an appealing top, I'll tell her that it doesn't really suit her (so that she won't end up buying it).

5. Would you like to have a hug or a kiss from your love?

Okay, this is a very good question. I prefer hugs over kisses, to be honest! There's nothing better than a guy holding you in his arms, making sure you feel protected and secure. *giggles* Okay, I think I'm getting too mushy.

6. What do you do when you have a bad day?

It varies all the time. I either sing songs to improve my mood, go on MSN and chat with a trustworthy friend about my problems (just so I don't explode from bottling everything up), go on the Show International English forum to find the latest news of Show Luo, or blog about it on my private blog to vent my feelings.

7. What do you think of one-night-stands?

I strongly believe in sex after marriage, so one-night-stands are no doubt a big no-no. People should treasure their body and reserve it for that special man/woman whom they'll marry in the future. There's nothing better than knowing that your future husband/wife's first time is with YOU. Right?

8. Do you carry a lot in your purse?

Well, kinda? There's my beloved DSLR, LG mobile phone, denim polka dot wallet, house keys, purple-bow pocket mirror, purple pocket umbrella (sometimes), pimple cream and some hair accessories. I used to carry more in my bag, but it eventually got too heavy for my liking.

Before I end this blog entry, here are my upcoming plans for the week:

11th August 2010: Hanging out with Amanda.
13th August to 15th August 2010: FGA Church Camp.

» Mini Photoshoot. - Monday, August 9, 2010

I was invited to attend a Murdoch Welcoming Party yesterday. So while waiting for one of the organizers (meeting them for the first time) to pick me up, my mum was nice enough to help me do a mini photoshoot. But considering the fact that most of the pictures turned out rather blurry or were not positioned properly, I would say that she isn't cut out to be a professional photographer. Never.

Enjoy these pictures, because they're worth a million words...

To conclude this entry, here is the outfit of the day...

» Happy 54th Birthday, Dad! - Saturday, August 7, 2010

Celebrated my Dad's 54th birthday yesterday, with the family. I would usually wish my loved ones a Happy Birthday exactly at 12.00 am, but because my dad was sleeping soundly, I left a note on the kitchen table instead. Headed to University for my Management tutorial, as well as my Finance and Banking lecture/tutorial. During my Finance and Banking lecture, I decided to text my dad to wish him a Happy Birthday once more. This time, he replied with, "Thanks. Love you." Aww, how sweet! ♥

Upon reaching home, I got changed into warmer clothes (it gets colder at night). Dinner was scheduled at 7.00 pm, so while waiting for everyone else to get ready, I ended up sleeping on the floor. (My rule is: I'm not allowed to lie on my bed until I've taken a night shower, no matter how tired I am!) So anyway, we headed to the restaurant to celebrate my dad's birthday...

After taking random pictures of my family members/relatives, it was time to give my dad his birthday card and present. He received a gift voucher for JB-Hi Fi from me and my two sisters, and a very unique card which totally describes him. You'll see what I mean in a minute. *sticks out tongue*

To my dearest dad, I wish you a very Happy Birthday. You are not only my dad, but also my hero for 19 years. You're definitely a person who's a big inspiration to me, who never fails to show me to live life the right way. Thank you for everything and I do mean this from the bottom of my heart!

01. You work from 7.30 am to 11.00 pm, 7 days a week.
02. You never complain about your job, no matter whether it's hard.
03. You never fail to give in to us, letting us do what we want.
04. You always forgive us, even though we've done wrong.
05. You always smile even though you're having a bad day.
06. You continue working although you're sick.
07. You always encourage/support us in all we do.
08. You teach us to be optimistic in life.
09. You brought us up with good moral values.
10. You never fail to make us giggle and laugh at your lame jokes.

I love you dad.

I know some of you think that my dad looks like an Asian bikie or the ring leader of a gang (Yakuza?). But tell you what, that's just how he looks on the outside. In the inside, his heart is made out of gold. Trust me, my close friends know that my dad is nothing but a friendly, funny, easygoing guy, who loves his family/God more than anything in the world. A one of a kind!

» January Memories - Thursday, August 5, 2010

To start this blog entry, let me tell you how many email addresses I own. Well, due to my Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), I have at least 12. And no, your eyes definitely aren't playing tricks on you. Digressing, I was deleting some junk mails from one of my email addresses when I came across an old email from Melissa Teo. Clicking on it, I was amazed to find numerous pictures that we took together during our trip to Taiwan in January 2010.

Caption: Modern Toilet

We visited the Modern Toilet one day, at Ximending. Imagine this: Sitting on toilet bowls while eating lunch in a restaurant. Absolutely loved the experience, and I definitely wouldn't mind doing it again. There's more pictures of me at this place, but because I look rather unappealing in them, I won't be uploading them here. By the way, don't mind my gangster-looking face in this photograph.

To end this short and abrupt entry, here is a picture of me and my 'lover'.

» Principles of Management. - Wednesday, August 4, 2010

In University today, I attended a 1 hour 'Principles of Management' lecture. When people started pouring into the lecture hall, my eyes caught hold of this Asian guy. He had perfectly styled hair, good sense of fashion, and actually looked quite cute. Instead of concentrating on the lecturer who was speaking, my eyes were fixed on the back of his head instead. *rolls eyes* Oh seriously? I can't believe I did that.

On the bus ride home, a fly actually scared the living shit out of me. Sitting beside the window, admiring the scenery on the way home, I noticed a fly crawling up the window panel. To make sure that it doesn't fly towards me, I ended up tracking its every move. (As my friends know, I'm actually scared of all kinds of bugs.) Suddenly, without any warning, it fell from the window and landed on me. Here's what happened: I freaked out in the bus and everyone else was staring at me weirdly. So embarrassing!

No pictures today. I've so much to do before dusk falls. My purple bedsheets are spinning in the washing machine and they are almost done for me to hang them up in the laundry area. On top of that, I have another load of dirty laundry that I have to wash, including another set of purple bedsheets. *groans* That's not all, because there's University homework to work on. Sigh, the joys of life!

To end this post, here's the plans I have for the week:

6th August 2010: Dad's Birthday Dinner.
7th August 2010: Hangout with Francisco / Murdoch Welcoming Party.

» Winter Term Examinations. - Saturday, July 31, 2010

Due to final examinations, I had no choice but to ditch my blog for several days. But considering the fact that my last examination (Commercial Law) has just ended, I'm back again! No promises about blogging on a regular basis though, since I'm planning to be more productive in life. Some of my future plans include finding a job, exercising on a regular basis, taking up a Korean language course, doing photo-shoots, practice my singing skills, as well as take up Hip-Hop lessons.

Anyway, to celebrate the end of my final examinations, I met Amanda at the city. She introduced me to her friend, Ivy, who was no doubt a friendly and nice girl. We actually spent 3 whole hours in Hit Studio singing karaoke, and of course, the typical cam-whoring! Unfortunately, you can't see my face in most of these pictures because I was being too jumpy for my own good. Thus, not uploading them.

Caption: Black rose-patterned leggings.

Caption: Happy me.

After karaoke, we headed to Spencer Village for dinner. I was going to eat my favourite food (Laksa) from 'Ya Kwong' but unfortunately, they were closed half an hour ago. It got me so devastated that I had to settle on fried chicken rice from a different store instead. The worse thing was that they offered me Nasi Lemak rice because they ran out on chicken rice. What a rip off!

Before I forget, here is my outfit of the day:

Ivy was nice enough to drive me and Amanda home, although she lives about 20 minutes away from us. By the way, we did get lost along the way because me and Amanda weren't certain on how to get home from the place we were at. Yes, up to today, I still can't give people directions to my house because I simply don't know the route home. How embarrassing is that?

» L'Oreal Matte Morphose - Wednesday, July 28, 2010

Being cooped up at home for several days, I begged my mum to bring me to Livingston Shopping Centre (just to relax my mind for a bit). She reluctantly agreed, but there was a basic condition. I was to drive there - everyone knows how much I hate driving. Surprising enough, I was very enthusiastic about it and even joked about speeding down Nicholson Road. My mum loved my confidence. *beams*

In Big W, I was randomly walking down the aisle when I saw a new product on the shelves. Feeling bored, I decided to try each individual tester out by applying it on my hand. First reaction: Wow!

Although I'm not a big fan of using foundation but this is urging me to apply it on my face every single day. Has anyone else tried this product?

» 5 Favourite Items - Monday, July 26, 2010

Nice, the blogging bug came back. (Unfortunately, I'm not sure how long it'll stay.) Because of this, I was looking forward to updating my blog once again. However, I felt extremely nauseous this afternoon and ended up lying in bed instead. Thank goodness that horrible feeling went away after a few hours. So, I'm back again! Woo-hoo.

Perhaps I'm too picky (which I'm famous for). Well, maybe you'll like to share 5 of your favourite things that you can find in your bedroom? *pokes*

» Hada Labo Hydration Range. - Sunday, July 25, 2010

I'll be approving comments regarding the previous blog entry next week. Digressing, let me talk about my skin complexion. If I was asked to describe it in several words, I would say that it's fairly oily and bumpy, covered with large pores, blackheads and acne scars. Yes, that's the reason why I hardly take close-up pictures of myself. Even if I do, I never upload these pictures onto my blog entry!

I've tried so many ways to get rid of the pimples on my face. From sleeping early, drinking bottles of mineral water, eating multivitamins, applying pimple creams, taking medication from doctors, changing my pillow case 3 times a week, refrain from allowing anyone to touch my face, to using facial cleansers from different brands. Until now, absolutely nothing has worked. *le sigh*

As soon as I heard about 'Hada Labo' products from a fellow beauty blogger, it made me certain that I would try this out one day. After all, there are heaps of positive reviews on this particular brand:

Caption: Hada Labo Hydration Range (Sasa.com)

Awesome, a Japanese brand. For some reason, I really trust Japanese/Korean brands when it comes to beauty products. Perhaps, there's just a gut feeling that Asian brands seem more trustworthy. Well, I'm not entirely sure whether I'll be purchasing this hydration range (need to check my bank balance before making a decision). But it's definitely something I would like to purchase some day.

Has anyone purchased from this brand before? If so, did it work for you?

» My 6th Blog Anniversary Giveaway. - Saturday, July 24, 2010

To start this blog entry, here's some background information. I first owned a blog at 13 years old. Blogging was a means for me to express deep thoughts and memories that I had in Perth, Australia. As most of you know, it was difficult getting used to a new country, a new house, a new environment, a new school and the fact that I had to make new friends. With a blog, it helped me to openly express myself about how I felt on a day-to-day basis. So here I am now, 6 years later and still blogging. Wow!

If I can remember correctly, my first blog was opened in August 2004. However, it's pretty sad that the exact date still remains unknown. To celebrate my wonderful blog anniversary, I'm hosting a mini giveaway. Everyone is eligible to enter, providing that they follow the rules. (Important!)

My 6th year blog anniversary giveaway item is...

Caption: Floral Bag (Dangerfield)

Isn't it pretty?! Bought this a few months ago, but I never ended up using it. Reason? Well, I couldn't figure out how to match it with the clothes in my wardrobe. Besides, I've been wearing a lot of jeans, T-shirts and jackets lately. (Just want to keep warm during winter so I don't fall sick!) It's perfect for my giveaway, as I didn't want to let this gorgeous floral bag rot in my wardrobe from being unused.

Once again, I would thank all those blog readers who have been reading my blog since 2007 (when my blog first became public). It has been nice sharing my life with you for 3 years, and it's absolutely amazing how you came back after my short hiatuses. If I could thank you personally, I would. *hugs*
